{"id":450,"date":"2019-03-19T14:18:52","date_gmt":"2019-03-19T14:18:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/demo.qkthemes.net\/statum\/?page_id=3"},"modified":"2021-07-13T12:37:29","modified_gmt":"2021-07-13T12:37:29","slug":"privacy-policy-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/eoafrica.co.za\/new\/privacy-policy-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Privacy Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"has-luminous-vivid-orange-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\">Europa Organisation Africa <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#7d8082\"><strong>Policy in terms of the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPI Act)<br>Approved: 18 June 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-color wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#7d8082\"><strong>Introduction<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Europa Organisation Africa (EOA) is a professional conference organiser (PCO) specialising in medical and healthcare congresses and events.<\/li><li>Personal information is collected for the purpose of facilitating delegate attendance at congresses managed by EOA.<\/li><li>EOA is:<br>\u2013 obliged to comply with the POPI Act;<br>\u2013 required to advise clients as to how their personal data is used, disclosed and destroyed; and<br>\u2013 committed to protecting its clients\u2019 privacy and ensuring that their personal data is used appropriately, transparently, securely and in accordance with applicable laws.<\/li><li>This policy is made available on the EOA website:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.eoafrica.co.za\/\">eoafrica.co.za<\/a>\u00a0and is available on request from the EOA Information Officer.<\/li><li>EOA reserves the right to make changes to this policy or to update it.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-color wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#7d8082\"><strong>Scope<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This policy applies to:<br>\u2013 the business of EOA wherever it is conducted; and<br>\u2013 information relating to identifiable individuals in terms of the POPI Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-color wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#7d8082\"><strong>Policy Statement<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>EOA will comply with the POPI Act and good practice to avoid causing harm to individuals through inappropriate handling of their information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-color wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#7d8082\"><strong>Purpose and nature of personal data collected<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Personal information is collected for the purpose of facilitating delegate attendance at congresses managed by EOA and is used for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>registering congress delegates;<\/li><li>arranging their accommodation and travel;<\/li><li>arranging visas;<\/li><li>managing applications for grant support for attendance at congresses; and<\/li><li>drawing up contracts with associations.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Type of information collected:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>\u00a0Identity number;<\/li><li>Passport number;<\/li><li>Name and surname;<\/li><li>Demographic data;<\/li><li>Professional qualifications;<\/li><li>Curriculum Vitae;<\/li><li>Area of professional speciality;<\/li><li>Institutional affiliation;<\/li><li>Postal address;<\/li><li>Residential address;<\/li><li>Place of work;<\/li><li>Postal codes; and<\/li><li>Dietary requirements.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-color wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#7d8082\"><strong>How personal information is used<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Personal information will only be used for the purpose for which it is collected and intended. The client will be made aware of the purpose for which the information is collected.<br><br>The purpose for which information is collected includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>registration for congress attendance;<\/li><li>travel and accommodation arrangements;<\/li><li>application for a visa;<\/li><li>registration as faculty at congresses;<\/li><li>registration as a presenter of an abstract or paper;<\/li><li>application and registration as a grant recipient;<\/li><li>provision of information to comply with B-BBEE requirements;<\/li><li>solicitation of feedback related to the EOA services;<\/li><li>advice concerning forthcoming conferences of relevance; and<\/li><li>compliance with legal proceedings, regulatory requirements, or when it is otherwise allowed by law or when it is necessary to protect the rights of EOA.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>EOA undertakes not to sell or otherwise supply personal information to third parties for commercial or marketing purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-color wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#7d8082\"><strong>Measures to meet conditions for processing<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The POPI Act requires the adequate protection of personal data:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Those providing data should consent to the processing of the data. Consent is obtained when the data is collected.<\/li><li>Consent to process the information is obtained from the client or a person authorised by the client to provide the information.<\/li><li>The client should be notified if information is being used for a purpose other than that for which consent was given.<\/li><li>Personal information will be used when processing is necessary to provide the services to the client.<\/li><li>EOA will continually review its security controls and processes to ensure that personal information is adequately protected.<\/li><li>Personal data of clients may be retained in order to contact them regarding future and relevant events and sometimes to solicit feedback.
